Red Sea Diving and Snorkeling - Explore the Red Sea

Red Sea Diving and Snorkeling

If you spend any time in Egypt
at all and have a love of the ocean, you owe it to yourself to try the
snorkeling and diving that is found at the Red Sea.

There are many reasons to head to the
Red Sea Riviera,
but the pristine, shining waters provide ideal conditions for past
times that require visibility. Don't miss out on this chance to explore
the Red Sea and find out why it has its reputation for gorgeous views and unforgettable snorkeling and diving experiences.

In terms of life under the ocean, this is one of the most wildly diverse areas in the world.
Out of the more than 1100 species of fish cataloged, around ten percent
are unique to the location. This rich diversity is due to the fringing
reefs that extend along the coastline and are around 5000 to 7000 years
old. These reefs shelter not only the 1100 or so species of fish, but
also around 44 species of shark. If you go Red Sea Diving, you should
be prepared to see beautiful specimens of sea life and to see them with
exquisite clarity as well.

Red Sea Diving

Plenty of Snorkeling and Diving Service

There
are plenty of snorkeling and diving services that are eager to help you
get on your way on the Egyptian coasts of the Red Sea. Some services
offer you full instruction on what to do with your snorkeling or scuba
equipment, while others presume more experience and will simply show
you to the best locations.

If you don't have your own equipment, it can certainly be rented and diving centers are plentyful.

While you might not think of it right away, snorkeling is an ideal sport for children
and you can introduce your children to some of the most beautiful sites
on the planet. As long as your child is comfortable in the water, you
can get them some experience with the snorkel and away you go!

Snorkeling in the Red Sea

One of the best things about snorkeling in the Red Sea is the chance to see a living ecosystem in action.
Right in front of your eyes, you'll see schools of fish interact,
identify solitary fish and watch them dart around each other in the
coral reefs. Keep an eye out for the symbiotic relationship of the
clown fish and the sea anemone. As the clown fish glide easily between
the poisonous tentacles of the sea anemones, watch as the colorful
stingers float in the water.

Blue Hole - Dahab

When
looking for specific sites to dive, consider Dahab, a small town on the
southeast coast of the Sinai Peninsula. This former Bedouin town boasts
internationally renowned scuba diving and snorkeling, and there are
many reefs that are adjacent to the shore.

When looking for places
to set in, head for the Blue Hole just a few miles to the north. The
Blue Hole is essentially a cave that is around 100 meters deep and 50
meters wide, and the variety of marine life inside the cave there is
awe-inspiring. One thing to keep in mind, however is that this idyllic
spot has a reputation for danger and is therefore only recommended for
skilled divers.

Ras Mohammad National Park

Another place to consider diving is at Ras Muhammad National Park,
one of Egypt's favorite attractions. In 1983, this park was established
by the government as a marine reserve. With more than 200 species of
corals, 40 species of starfish and more than 150 species of
crustaceans, there is plenty to see; Ras Mohammed National Park
definitely earns its international reputation as one of the world's
best diving spots.

With a little bit of luck, you'll catch a glimpse of the rare green sea turtle and the hawksbill sea turtle.

Staying Focused on Your Diet While on Holiday

How to travel and still lose weight
Being on a diet while you are travelling seems to be a difficult task for many people. In fact, some people use holiday time as an excuse to forget the diet and just eat what they want. The problem is they usually return home to find they have not only not lost weight but have gained some of what they already lost. There are ways you can have fun on your holiday trips and still lose weight.

Make Sensible Food Choices
When you are travelling you do not have to use that as an excuse to throw your diet into the waste bin. Even when you eat three meals out every day, you can stay on your weight loss program by making sensible choices. That doesn’t mean you can’t occasionally have something special as long as you plan for it. Some of the things you may want to consider include the following:
• Do not have a big breakfast every day. Being on holiday doesn’t mean your daily breakfast should consist of pastries, donuts, and three course meals. Even if you attend a buffet, you can choose fruits, whole grain cereals with skim milk, or yoghurt.
• Even if you are not a breakfast eater, make it a point to have something even if it’s whole wheat toast with a little butter or jam. You will snack less during your time out if you eat three meals a day.

• Don’t feel you have to eat everything on your plate simply because you “paid for it.” Some restaurants provide portions that are too large—consume only enough so that you feel full and not overstuffed.

• Choose healthy items from the menu. Every restaurant has some selections that are healthier than others. Lunch may be a salad with a little dressing while dinner may consist of grilled chicken or fish. Avoid making a routine out of greasy and high-calorie foods.
Get Plenty of Exercise
Depending where you go for your holiday, you may have to plan for your activities. It’s easy enough to exercise while on holiday even if you don’t do anything but walk. Many people travel and have a tendency to jump in the car or taxi for short trips that can be accomplished on foot. Even if you can’t travel on foot, if you are using public transportation, you will likely get the exercise you need by walking provided you don’t ride to every single stop.
If the weather is nice, spend time in the park and other places where you can walk rather than ride to your destination. Whenever possible exit your car or the train or bus farther away from your destination and walk the rest of the way. When you are shopping, make it a point to walk between the stores rather than getting into the car or on a bus. Finally, make sure your trip includes plenty of activities that will allow you to burn off the calories from the meals you consume.
Limit Your Alcohol Intake
Alcoholic beverages are very high in calories, yet many people who don’t drink any other time do so when they are on holiday. Whether it’s because they are not driving or are more relaxed is of little difference. You can enjoy a glass of wine with dinner or a drink later, but you need to limit how much you drink. Do not get into the habit or drinking two or three drinks every night while you are enjoying your holiday or you will put on extra pounds by the time you return home.

Diving Holidays For Single Travelers

Sharm El Sheikh offers some of the best sites for diving and snorkeling in the world. More Europeans learn to dive here than anywhere else in the world and the resort is ideal for diving holidays for singles, beginners and experienced divers alike.
The climate is hot, the water warm and clear and great for diving any time of year. However if you would like to dive in extra warm waters it is best to visit between the months of June and September.

Sharm El Sheikh lies at the tip of the Sinai Peninsula in the Red Sea. There are over forty dive sites in the region and nearly fifty dive centers. With such an abundance of dive sites on offer the variety of diving is amazing. From reefs, coral formations, walls and wreck, the dive sites are diverse and teeming with a range of marine life including jacks, snappers and barracudas.

With its pristine coral reefs and countless species of fish Ras Mohammed National Park and the Straits of Tiran are amongst the more famous dive sites. Ras Mohammed has some steep coastal cliffs that plunge underwater to depths of over seventy metres. The Straits of Tiran have four circular reefs surrounded by steep drop offs. More advanced divers can enjoy world class wreck diving by taking a day boat to Thistlegorm, if you are willing to brace the four hour boat trip or the slightly more bearable two and a half hour trip to Dunraven.

For divers Sharm El Sheikh offers unparalleled access to some of the best diving in the world. The beauty of diving is that it is a sport that can be enjoyed by individuals or as part of a group. Complete beginners can begin with an ‘intro dive’ to get them accustomed to diving in the Red Sea. Reassuringly all the dive centres have qualified English speaking instructors to accompany each dive, providing and running diving courses and diving experiences. Experienced divers who already have their PADI certificate can enjoy organized dives with fellow divers.

Aside from being one of the greatest diving destinations in the world, Sharm El Sheikh also has plenty more to offer its visitors. When you are not diving there are other watersports to keep you occupied such as swimming and parascending. Simply relax in the cosmopolitan resort or take the opportunity in between dives to do some desert exploration and visit biblical sites. Outside of the water test your skill and luck on the casino floors or for those that love to shop take a leisurely stroll through bazaars and shopping centres in search of curious and exotic finds. If you are a night owl you will get the chance to boogie the night away and meet like minded people.

Diving holidays to Egypt are available with most major operators but if you are traveling alone it may prove difficult to avoid paying a single supplement. However there are a few tour operators that specialise in offering diving holidays for singles, catered to the single unattached traveller.
